Wooden-ware is on hike these days. Especially the wooden cutting boards have earned a lot of popularity. People are switching to wooden cutting boards over plastic ones. Not only do they look beautiful, they are very tough and reliable as well.

But have you ever thought about the different variety of woods that are used to make wooden cutting boards? Trust me; even I realized it after finishing this blog.

So, let us get familiar with different type of woods that are used for making cutting boards. Not only this, you will be able to choose the best quality wooden board by the end of this blog.

Bamboo: Bamboo cutting boards serve very well. A lot of companies use bamboo for making wooden boards. They are available in quite cheaper rates and are light in weight. But they need a proper care. You might lose your board after few years. The other negative point of a bamboo cutting board is that the bamboo pieces are glued using formaldehyde, which would not be good when leaked and get mixed with the food.

Acacia Wood: This is one of the best qualities of wood used for making cutting board. The use of acacia wood for making kitchenware is growing at a very fast rate due to its amazing qualities. Acacia wood has two main qualities that a premium wooden cutting board must have – Appearance and Strength. Acacia wood not only has a beautiful texture but even makes your meticulously made food look appetizing. Being a hard wood, acacia wood is very sturdy and the surface is very good for knives. Acacia wood also has an amazing resilience to water which also makes it anti-bacterial. If you take good care of your acacia wood cutting board you might never have to buy another one the entire life.

Walnut Wood: Walnut wood cutting boards tend to be of good quality. They have a good hard surface that keeps the knives edgy. Walnut wood also has a very contrasting texture. It goes form very light to a very darker tone. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time.

Maple Wood: Maple wood is one of the most trusted wood for making a lot things like heavy duty flooring, bowling alleys, dance floors kitchen cabinets, furniture etc.  Maple wood is also renewable as it is available in abundance. The only drawback I could find for this is that it is very hard to glue maple wood. And we might need some strong adhesives to bring the pieces together which might again mix up with the fruits and vegetables that we cut on the wooden board.

Beech Wood: We can get beech wood cutting board at a very affordable price. But I would rather pick some other wooden board because the texture of beech wood is very light. Therefore, it will be very hard to maintain its color. Secondly, beech wood is also susceptible to insects. I don’t want my chopped meat to be eaten up by insects.
