Have a wooden cutting board? Worried how to keep it clean and rejuvenated? Well, this blog reveals all the secrets for that. You just need to follow some simple steps and then your wooden cutting board is ready for many more years.

So let’s get to work and turn your old wood into gold!

Grandma Style Cleaning

Have you ever heard your grandma telling hundreds of formulas to solve our problems? So the first step of cleaning the board comes from that treasure chest.  Take a lemon and cut it into half. Put salt on its surface and rub it gently over the cutting board. This will not only help in removing all the stuff that is stuck in little groves of the wood but also has an anti-bacterial quality to it.

Now, leave it until it the board is dried thoroughly.

Oil it

Second step starts with oiling of the wooden board. The best mineral oil to use is Butcher Block Oil manufactured by Ironwood Gourmet. It has citrus extracts which makes it antibacterial and it prevents cracks in the wooden cutting board like no other mineral oil does.

Apply the oil evenly on the surface and leave it overnight to be soaked by the wood. I know it’s hard to wait for so long. But, have a sound sleep because the result that you will see the next morning is worth waiting. So, as you wake up in the morning, head towards the kitchen and have a look at your beautiful and rejuvenated wooden cutting board.

After the oil is soaked fully, it leaves the surface smooth and strengthens the wood. Remove the extra oil form the surface and you wooden cutting board is ready. The best part is you don’t have to repeat this process that often. Even if you do once in a month, you seem to take a good care of you board.

So, I am pretty sure if you follow these steps well, you tend to work with your old wooden cutting board for many more years which I don’t mind doing.
